Anonymous Posting

Some room on GI allow Residents to post anonymously.

These rooms have a sign hanging on the depiction of the room indicating this.

Any room which allows anonymous posting by Residents will also have an explanation of what that means as a thread pinned to the top of the list of threads for that room

Please note that when post in such aroom, items will be anonymized unless you check the box which will be clearly labelled in big yellow letters above the SUBMIT button. Checking that box will cause a post to appear as they normally do, as from you.

The purpose of this feature is to permit folks to occasionally offer a thought or pose a question which they might feel awkward about doing as themself.

"Anonymized" means that a post will show as having been posted by "Anonymized Resident", and no personally-identifiable info about the author will show with the post.

HOWEVER, in case of abuse of this feature to be an anonymous dick, server logs could be consulted to glean whom it was who made the post.

Other than that we promise to respect this offer of occasional Anonymity.

* NOTE: In such rooms, posts default to anonymizing because people complained that if they forgot to check the box, then things they thought they were saying anonymously were accidentally showing as from them. This way forgetting, or somehow missing the huge yellow warning text, defaults to the "safer" condition of anonymity.
