Most of what happens on GI (play or discussion) is available to Visitors as well as Residents. Exceptions include the Blog areas and the " Toys ". Other than that, Visitors can view the happenings here as they wish. This is to demonstrate openness and transparency, as well as to give prospective Residents all the perspective possible when making the decision to join us.

Resident Toys can be invoked from the Transporter. They include:

• GI Arcade : A live arcade filled with many games which track high scores among GI Residents.
• Where we live : a satellite map using Googlemap's API which allows Residents to record their geographic location.
• My GI Bookmarks : a system for maintaining your own bookmarks to happenings on GI that interest you.
• Social Bookmarks: a menu of various social networking and personal-bookmarking options appears at the top of each thread.
• GI Instant Messenger : A YIM/MSN/AIM-like Instant Messenger panel with which GI Residents can chat privately with each other (or even in groups), while they're visiting the Island.
• GI Rogues Gallery : an interactive photo album for posting and sharing picture galleries.
• Filtering "Adult" Content: Residents can choose which areas of GI they wish to see when looking around GI. If an areas's main theme isn't something a Resident feels would be positive for them to participate in, we can set things so they only see the areas of GI which they choose to.
